Kermit Toby Rutherford, age 76, left his loving family to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at his home in Lawrenceburg, KY formerly of Pikeville, KY. He was born April 17, 1944 to the late Eva Mae Tibbs Chaney and Jake Bud Rutherford.
Besides both parents, Kermit was preceded in death by his sister, Rosa Lee Chaney.
Kermit left behind three children, son, Shawn Rutherford and his wife, Misty, two daughters, Angela Buck and her husband, Jason, and Jessica Caudill; eight grandchildren, Dylan Rutherford, Hunter Rutherford, Austin Melton, Jayden Buck, Jake Buck, Anderson Buck, Jonathan Collins and Dalton Caudill; brothers and sisters, Stella Diana Coleman, Shelby Jean Adkins, Edra Lou Ratliff, Jerry Lee Chaney, and Sondra Lynn Ray.
Kermit started the heavy equipment trade in the United States Army during Vietnam where he served two tours. He took that knowledge and started his own company K. Rutherford Construction for many years where he crossed Pike County making many friends along the way.
The family will accept friends at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home, Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 4:00 PM with services beginning at 6:00 PM. There will be open visitation Monday, November 16, 2020 beginning at 9:00 AM. Funeral services for Kermit will be Monday, November 16, 2020, at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM. Morgan Chapman will officiate all services for Kermit. DAV Honors will be conducted by Elkhorn City DAV Chapter #140. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville, KY.
