Obituary for Josephine Gross (Ray)

Josephine Ray Gross, 63 of Pikeville, KY passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her residence on Upper Chloe Creek. Josephine was born July 8, 1955 in Pikeville, KY she is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Lena ”Maynard” Ray, two brothers; Roy Ray & Eddie Ray, two sisters, Shirley Williams & Rosie Hall.
Josephine is survived by her husband Carl V. Gross of Pikeville, KY; one son Charley V. Gross of Pikeville, seven sisters; Annie York of Columbus, Katherine Bartley of Penny Road, Mable (Woody) Akers of Shelbiana, Wilma Smith of Columbus, Billie Ratliff of Pikeville, Jacqueline Ray-Stanley of Dorton, KY & Linda Lou (Johnny) Huffman of New Market, TN, two brothers; Walter Ray Jr. of Virgie & Andy (Mary) Ray of Little Mud.
Josephine was a retired school teacher who taught at Pike Central High School.
Josephine was a loving wife, mother & friend.
She will be sadly missed by all who treasured her.
The family will accept friends at the Thacker Memorial Chapel Monday, September 17, 2018 beginning at 6PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Pikeville, KY.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, KY.
