Obituary for Allen Marcum Jr.

Allen  Marcum Jr.
Allen Marcum, Jr., 80, of Pikeville, KY died May 31, 2018 at the Pikeville Medical Center after an extended illness.
Allen was born on February 6, 1938, the son of the late Joshua Marcum and Nellie (Pinson) Marcum.
He was a 1958 graduate of Johns Creek High School and a 1962 graduate of Pikeville College with degrees in Business Education and History. Allen was a former school teacher and a retired Insurance Adjuster with over 40 years of service.
Allen was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed Civil War history studies and the beauty, design and engineering of various kinds of trains.
Allen was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Stella (Kendrick) Marcum; one son George Allen Marcum of Pikeville, and one sister; Clara Love of Port Deposit, MD.
Allen was preceded in death by his brothers; Jerry Marcum, Herman Howard Marcum, James Marcum and William Hancel Marcum. He was also preceded in death by one sister; Pearl Marcum.
Visitation will be at the Thacker Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and the funeral services on Sunday June 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.with Morgan Chapman officiating. Entombment will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery on Chloe Rd.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, KY.
